Whitefish Chain Location and History
The Whitefish Chain of lakes is located “up north” between Crosslake and Pequot Lakes in Minnesota. The Pine River dam was constructed in Crosslake way back in 1895 to provide a means of flood control on the upper Mississippi River. Construction of the dam and associated earthen dikes created the Whitefish Chain by joining 14 previously landlocked lakes. The resulting chain of connected lakes covers 14,000+ acres of water and 100+ miles of shoreline.
